Laurentide Environment supports participating municipalities in managing household hazardous waste (HHW) through a comprehensive collection, sorting, and treatment service offered as part of the TRANSBAC program. This service includes regular collection of bins at municipal sites and specialized sorting of organic and inorganic materials, in compliance with current environmental standards.

Dangerous Organic HHW:

• Frying oils in a clearly labeled, tightly sealed container

• Solvent-based products, cleaning products, paint strippers, etc.

• Fertilizers

• Fuels (gasoline, diesel, etc.)

Dangerous Inorganic HHW:
Classified according to chemical nature, these residues are handled carefully and treated according to their category:

• Acids (e.g., hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid)

• Bases (e.g., ammonia, caustic soda)

• Toxics (e.g., mercury, certain heavy metals, pesticides)

• Oxidizers (e.g., hydrogen peroxide, pool products, nitrates)
