Used Oils
In partnership with the Used Oil Management Society (SOGHU), Laurentide Environment diverts a significant amount of used oils from landfills each year through the recycling program established 20 years ago. We manage the logistics and execution of the only comprehensive sorting program for consumers initiated by SOGHU.
We handle the collection and sorting of bins containing used automotive maintenance products (oils, antifreeze, plastic containers, and filters from individual and residential sources) through our TRANSBAC transportation program, which serves 1,143 collection points for Quebec consumers—covering 95% of the Quebec population. The collected materials are then sent to our Shawinigan, Quebec facility for sorting and bulk consolidation. From there, they are redistributed to processors who ensure they are reused, recycled, treated, cleaned, decontaminated, or classified as hazardous residual materials when necessary.
